History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Russian Physisist of XX Century G.A. Gamov Kovaleva S.K. George Gamov was born in Odessa in 1904, 4th March. He made a phenomenal carier. When he was only 28, he was elected a correspondent member of Academia of Sciences of the USSR. His incredible talant was admirated by Niels Bohr and Avraam Ioffe. In 1933 he left the USSR for an abroad professional trip and didn`t return. In 1944 Gamov became the USA cittizen. He is the auhor of the alpha-decay theory as well as the Big Bang theory. He disclosed the strucure of the genetic code. The professor of the Colorado University George Gamov dead in Boulder town in August, 1968. His life was complicated but surprisingly striking.
