History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Basic Achievements of Scientific School of the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute in Area of Magnetically-Impulsive Treatment of Metals Baranov M.I. A historical review is resulted for fifty years period (1962–2012 years) of basic scientific and technical developments and achievements of scientific and engineerings technical employees of the Kharkov polytechnic institute (KhPI) in the new area of the high-voltage electrical engineering, related to deformation of the thin-walled metals pressure of strong impulsive magnetic field. Are physical bases and technological possibilities of new progressive method of impulsive deformation of metallic details described briefly − method of magnetically-impulsive treatment of metals (MITM). Basic technical descriptions of row are presented created in KhPI after many decades of experimentally-industrial standards of high-voltage magnetically-impulsive options and heavy-current inductor systems, allowing to realize the method of MITM in practice. The personal information is resulted about scientists and specialists of KhPI, pawning scientific and technical bases of electric technology of MITM in the USSR. The considerable deposit of scientific school of KhPI is marked in area of MITM in becoming and development of this progressive method of energy power treatment of metals.
