Nowadays Russia takes one of the first places in the world by smoking prevalence among the adult population. Tobacco use is a cause of growth of cardiovascular, pulmonary and oncologic diseases. Knowledge of the history of beginning and development tobacco use in the world and Russia let us better understand the source of appearance of anti-smoking movement which origin has been occurred since tobacco was introduced and which has a fixed attention from the state and social and medical organizations.
