SIMULATION OF ENERGY AND ECOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRAFFIC FLOW IN CITIES BASED ON REMOTE MONITORING |

The paper presents the methodology and results of remote monitoring traffi c fl ows, held in Moscow in November 1999, according to
the procedure of Geoinformation Scientifi c Center RAS, using GIS technologies. These studies included several series of operations: some special aerial survey of the road network, computer identifi cation of traffi c fl ows, interpretation vehicle speed by imagery, the calculation of basic parameters of traffi c fl ows. Based on materials from aerial survey calculated the air pollution from vehicles are worked out on the site of Prospect Mira, by the procedure of the Research Institute of Road Transport and on the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of the Russian Federation. The resulting study data could be support for fl exible management of the redistribution of traffi c fl ows depending on time of day and weather conditions with the aim to control traffi c and environmental situation in the big cities.
