SET THEORY: THE WAY TO RUSSIA |

This is a full story of penetration of Cantor’s ideas in Russia. The information about translations and retellings ideas of set theory from 1892 to 1985, the analysis of these publications, the interpretation of the concepts and the history of search for relevant terms in the Russian language, as well as information about the authors and publishers – Timchenko, Shatunovskii, Mlodzeevskii, Florensky, Vasilyev, Nekrasov, Zhegalkin, Yushkevich Sr, Yushkevich Jr, Medvedev are presented in article. Previously unknown information about the failed publication of Cantor’s works is told, and the fate of the A. Fet – a mathematician from Novosibirsk - the author of the fi rst complete, but unpublished translation. Summarizes the development of the theory as a new partition theory, emerging only in the XX century, as well as the direct continuation of the theory of Cantor in Russia.
