History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back HISTORY OF SCIENCE IN THE CONTEXT OF CULTURE IN PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF GRADUATE STUDENTS IN PHYSICS EDUCATION L.A. Bordonskaya The history of science potential in representing science as one of the culture elements developing in close connection with its other elements and culture in general is determined in the paper based on analysis of scientifi c, historical-scientific and philosophical literature. We specify and focus on the components of historical-cultural constituent of physics: science and culture at different stages of society development; great men in science and culture; cultural heritage. The paper justifi es the need and importance of the history of science in the context of culture inclusion in graduate students’ training in Pedagogical Education, master’s program “Physics Education”. A historical-cultural component in physics education content is focused on and its content elements are specifi ed. In the system of graduate students’ preparation for realization of the pedagogical potential of the history of science in the context of culture, three interconnected components are identifi ed, namely subjectcontent, methodological and activity ones. Graduate students’ training is proposed to be realized within the scope of two sequentially studied, integrated courses of subject and methodological character. The course programs are given.
