Rychagov The history of preparation for operation of Pauzhetsky geothermal deposit and construction of the fi rst Soviet Union geothermal power plant is described. The basic dates of these outstanding in a history of our country geothermal events are resulted. The role of ideologists and heads (A.A. Gavronskogo, B.I. Piipa, V.V. Averieva, V.M. Sugrobova), geologists and hydrogeologists-scientists (A.S. Nehorosheva, V.I. Belousova, G.A. Karpova, N.G. Sugrobovoi, T.V. Renne, et al.), engineers-designers (A.A. Gavronskogo, V.G. Renne), geologists (N.A. Antipova, Yu.V. Kozhina, V.M. Dudchenko, Yu.A. Kraevogo) and «imperceptible workers» (N.I. Sazhina, V.I. Saburova and many others) in becoming geothermal researches is marked. The conclusion about prospects of practical Kamchatsk geothermiya are made.
