ACOUSTIC EMISSION RESEARCH OF NEARSURFACE SEDIMENTARY ROCKS IN KAMCHATKA |

The results of acoustic emission investigations, carried out at IKIR FEB RAS since 1999, are briefl y presented. The regularities of acoustic emission for different dynamics of the stress-deformed state of the near surface sedimentary rocks are described. A high-frequency effect, discovered for the first time, is characterized. It is the increase in geoacoustic emission intensity in the frequency range from hundreds of hertz to the fi rst tens of kilohertz which manifests the most at the final stage of earthquake preparation. The monitoring system and signal timefrequency analysis which were developed on the modern computing facilities for parallel evaluation, are also described.
