History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back THE US AND THE SOVIET EXPERIENCE IN THE CREATION AND DEVELOPMENT CYBERCOMMUNICATIONS (1958–1991) S.A. Sebekin In article provides a comparative analysis of Soviet and American experience in creating cybercommunications through the prism of economic, ideological and political aspects. In order to analyze the author examines the main projects for the creation of the fi rst social networks of Soviet cybernetics as A.I. Kitov, A.A. Kharkevich and V.M. Glushkov, as well as the creation of the US network ARPANET. Thus, was bringing out and analyzed several distinctive features of the establishment and development of networks, depending on the ideological system in which they are designed – the socialist Soviet Union and the capitalist United States. Also considered one of the fundamental reasons why the Soviet attempts to establish cybercommunications failed, and US efforts to succeed.
