FROM THE HISTORY OF FORMATION OF METHODS REMOTE SENSING OF THE SEA (TO THE 35th ANNIVERSARY OF THE INTERNATIONAL EXPERIMENT «BLACK SEA-INTERCOSMOS»)

The experiment «Black Sea – Intercosmos», aimed at solving the problems of determining the causes of the variety of color shades of the
sea surface, the differences between the rich by marine living resources or mineral suspension of the regions and the poor, is reproduced. One of the main tasks of the experiment was to study the possibility of using remote methods for estimating the reserves of marine biological resources, their rate of expenditure and recovery. Researches were conducted in the northwestern part of the Black Sea and the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea (the Levant Sea), and the reasons for choosing the above marine areas for the experiment were disclosed. The research vessel «Professor Kolesnikov», the airplane-laboratory AN-30 and the orbital station Salyut-7, the oceanographic platform were involved in the experiment. The vertical and spatial course of the characteristics of the aquatic medium were measured, the species composition of the phytoplankton was determined and the concentration of its pigments measured. A laboratory fl uorimeter, telephotometers, visible and near infra-red spectral spectrometers, a spectrophotometer ICF-6 camera, commonly accepted meteorological instruments such as a hydrological probe (the water temperature and its electrical conductivity for the calculation of salinity, pressure at the depth of measurement) were used in the course of the experiment. As a result of the research carried out during the experiment, the technique of correction of the effect of atmospheric effects on ascending radiation from the sea in a wide range of the spectrum was tested under controlled conditions, a model of the atmospheric effect on the remote signal was developed, the variability of the solar radiation fi eld was estimated in the system «sea-atmosphere».
