HISTORIOGRAPHY CIRCASSIAN (ADYGHE) ETHNOMUSICOLOGY

Current state of musical culture adyghe markedly different from that developed in the twentieth century. In recent years sharply increased
interest in the study and development of national traditions traditional instrumentalism and song art unwritten tradition Circassians (Adyghe).
One of the earliest documentary sources are news European authors – «Circassians, Balkar and Karachai Leader European authors XIII–
XIX centuries». In their brief review and report on the trip they gave detailed descriptions of the appearance of many traditional musical
instruments, as well as recreate the picturesque samples of different genres of Circassian (Adyghe) songs, instrumental tunes, etc.
Source base of research instruments, instrumental and vocal traditions gradually began to accumulate that the idea of a special study of
traditional musical culture of the Circassians. At the beginning of the collection of ethnographic materials, oral information on the instrumental
culture adyghe was general in nature, i.e., going along the way with folk songs, information about traditional clothes, ornaments, history of
villages, oral poetry, etc. This work began in 1926 with the fi rst day of the opening of the Kabardino-Balkar Scientifi c Research Institute, which
was to conduct fi eld expeditions to collect folk music adygov on the territory of their compact residence. In connection with what were invited
musicologists and composers from Moscow. Repeatedly in Kabarda, Cherkessia and Adygea there were well-known musicians. They collected
and analyzed a huge actual authentic material. Sayings about bytopisatel Cherkessia Adyghe folk music, and today are of great interest. This explains why research on the material and spiritual culture adyghe included in one of the priorities adyghe ethnomusicology.
