History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTION OF SPECIAL CARBON BLACK FOR AUTOMOTIVE NITRO ENAMEL IN THE UKHTA INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISE OF THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF THE USSR A.N. Kustyshev The article is devoted to the scientific achievement of engineers of the Ukhta industrial complex of the NKVD – the Ministry of internal Affairs of the USSR, whose activities determined the development of oil, gas and chemical industries in the European North of the country. Using archival materials, the author considers the contribution of specialists of the enterprise to the development of technology for producing a special grade of carbon black for black nitro enamels. These research efforts of the engineers allowed the country to abandon the import of black carbon from the United States and to establish its own domestic production of dyestuff for automotive paints and nitro enamels.
