(HISTORICAL ASPECT 1981–1991) V.M. Latanov, O.A. Kurbatov The article is devoted to the study of the activity of commanders, political bodies, public organizations of space units in working with young officers to perform their military and official duty during their formation. The article reveals the problems that the leadership of space units had to face in the conditions of the perestroika that unfolded in the country and the tasks that were set by the state and political leadership of the USSR and the Main Directorate of space assets of the USSR defense Ministry in increasing the requirements for the exemplary officers of the Armed Forces. We talk about the real situation and the state of Affairs in the space parts of the study period. The article shows the work of commanders, political bodies, public organizations of space units, to fulfill the tasks of the country's leadership. The authors conclude that the work done has generally been successful, but that there has been no major improvement in discipline among young officers in space units during the period under review. The negative impact of the perestroika processes in the country, the fall in the prestige of the officer service, a significant backlog from the needs of the socio-cultural sphere in space units. There were also shortcomings in the organization of educational work with young officers.
