History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back THE ROLE OF RUSSIAN SCIENTISTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF FIRST METAL WELDING TECHNOLOGIES A.V. Yakhin, E.A. Udalova, D.V. Karetnikov, A.S. Tokarev The historical background of the origin of scientific research in the field of welding technology as one of the most important methods for joining metal parts is presented. It is noted that the creation of an electric arc historically determined the possibility of the appearance of the first welding technologies. It is shown that Russian scientists occupied a leading place in the development of the scientific foundations and practice of welding technologies and thus determined the prospects for their development.
