Aleshkina The article reflects the main achievements of RIRAE in the field of radiobiology and radioecology of agricultural animals and poultry. The results of studies of radiation damage and pathological effects in farm animals, poultry, etc. with external exposure to ionizing radiation and internal receipt of radionuclides are presented. The influence of radiation exposure on the productivity and reproductive qualities of animals is estimated. The pathogenesis of acute radiation sickness has been studied at the molecular-cellular, organ-system, and organizational levels, and methods for its diagnosis, prevention, and therapy have been developed. The regularities of radionuclide migration in the trophic chain of farm animals are considered. The possibility of applying the achievements of nuclear science and technology in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine is shown. During the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP accident in the field of animal husbandry, experimental work was carried out to test previously known and develop new technological methods for reducing the intake of radionuclides into the animal body and obtaining standard-clean animal products. Currently, the problem of obtaining standard clean animal products in radioactively contaminated areas has been largely solved.
