Loy In historical retrospect the role of RIRAE in the development of radiation technologies are presented. The main achievements in the field of scientific justification of the use of ionizing radiation for ensuring phytosanitary safety of grain and grain products, inhibiting the germination of vegetable crops, microbiological safety and extending the shelf life of agricultural raw materials and food products are reflected. The Institute's active participation in the creation of a comprehensive scientific and technical program for the application of radiation technologies in agriculture, which unites research institutes, government agencies and commercial organizations, is noted.
