The article, timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the Stalingrad (Volgograd) Tractor Plant, tells about the first design unit in the tractor industry for the design of agricultural tractors – KEO STZ. The information collected by the authors about the heads of this service - chief designers, who in different years were: V.G. Stankevich, M.M. Romanov, V.A. Kargopolov, A.K. Platonov, A.Ya. Merilov, M.A. Sharov, V.P. Shevchuk, V. Ya. Bokov, I.A. Dolgov and V.V. Kosenko, about their previous and subsequent activities related to tractor construction. Provides data on the main developments of the team headed by them – five generations of caterpillar agricultural tractors, as supplied for production: general purpose: STZ-NATI, DT-54, DT-75, DT-75V / D, DT-175S / M, VT -100/150 and their various modifications (transport, swamp, gas generating, steep, etc.), and some of the most significant experimental samples; brief characteristics of these machines, advantages over their predecessors are given.
