History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Biography and Activities of Mechanical Engineer Kurbanov M.M Petrushchenkov V.A. The article is devoted to the biography and activities of the unique personality of engineer and humanitarian Mikhail Mikhailovich Kurbanov. A typical biography of a military naval offi cer who gained experience working with new equipment in the fi eld of heat engines, electric generators and electric lighting systems provided him with a high demand in the capital's civic life. Being in the service of the Ministry of the Imperial Court, he had to build and operate power plants of very famous objects: the Anichkov and Mariinsky Palaces, the Imperial School of Jurisprudence, the School Council at the Holy Synod, the State Printing House, the Imperial Academy of Arts, the Imperial Dacha “Alexandria” in New Peterhof, the city tram power plant. His work experience was unique, as he had to work with different equipment, on different fuels, with different cycles, including heating systems.
