The article is devoted to the issue of organization of physiological laboratories in European countries in the XIX century. On the basis of the publications of contemporaries – scientifi c works of the researchers, memoir literature, materials of periodical press – articles of the physiologists of the XIX century devoted to the development of physiology and the functioning of physiological laboratories the process of opening laboratories intended for research and practical classes in physiology is refl ected in the article. The conclusion is made that the development of physiology as an experimental science in the XIX century was connected with the creation and functioning of physiological laboratories which gradually transformed, expanded their space and acquired new opportunities for research.
