History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back 110 years on the march. From a depot for verification of commercial measures and weights to a State scientific metrological centre S.A. Kononogov The history is given of creation (1900) and development of the Russian Research Institute for Metrological Service (VNIIMS), established upon the initiative of D.I. Mendeleev as a verification chamber in Moscow. Today VNIIMS have become a scientific centre of metrological service well known not only in Russia but worldwide.
