History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Department of geometric quantities measurement V. Lysenko, N. Tabachnikova The history of creation and establishing the department of geometric quantities measurement, including the names of scientists, who promoted the development of the department and uprising of the new measurement types is presented. It is pointed out, that the department is the centre of the primary measurement standards being the leading metrological institute in measuring of the characteristics of surface roughness, form deviation of rotary body, coordinate measurements of surface, gearing and coating thickness.
