Ozolina, N.I. Rekoslavskaya, A.G. Yenikeyev The article presents key results of modern investigations related to new trends in cell biology, molecular biology and bio-engineering. It covers achievements of genetic engineering, which entailed creation of plants with new economically efficient characteristics, comprehension of the mechanism of DNA import into mitochondria, development of the concept of mitochondria sensor role and their participation in control over cell metabolism. There are drawn results of study of mechanisms of membrane transport via plant cell tonoplast and its relation to redox-regulation. Results of investigation of anti-oxidant protection systems are considered.There are presented results of creation of new vaccines types against hazardous infections via plant genetic engineering methods, prospects of acquisition from plants of new compounds that are valuable for medicine.
