The IAA computer network is a complex multi-level hierarchical system built using modern information technology and high-speed communication links based on fiber-optic communication links. For the first time in Russia IAA implemented VLBI observations transfer technology in e-VLBI mode over fiber-optic links. The e-VLBI technology (VLBI in real time) is now widely used by astronomical community. There are plans to use this technology as primary for data transfer from observatories to the Processing Center. This paper presents structure of information network in IAA, scheme of communication channels between the VLBI observatories complex «Quasar» and RAS Processing Center and modern information technologies used in IAA (VoIP, virtual machines and storages). Since its inception in 1993 the structure and composition of hardware and software components have been substantially modified. This is due primarily to the creation of high-speed communication links based on fiber optic, as well as with the use of a new generation of server and network equipment. During 2005–2010 the equipment was seriously upgraded (routers, switches, multiplexers, workstations, server architecture and databases) with the products from world leading manufacturers.
