K. Peysonel on the Nature of the Black Sea Trade Cherkessia Early in the Second Half of the XVIII Century |

The paper investigates the nature of the Black Sea Trade Circassians in the second half of the XVIII century. Establishes that it is the direction of trade in this period, lagged behind the pace of development, did not contribute to the growth of the region's economy was primarily focused on meeting the needs of luxury goods for the aristocratic elite. It is noted that no effect on the development of commodity – money relations in Circassia. It is concluded that the cause of this phenomenon was the unwillingness and inability of the Ottoman Empire, which is nominally a vassal of Circassia, to change the status quo. Satisfied with the collection of taxes and customs duties, Turkey itself from active participation in the Black Sea trade. Trade relations with the Russian Circassians, by contrast, have evolved at a rapid pace.
