History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Astronomical Research in Ryazan: from Cosmography to Space Debris Bodrova I.V. Bodrov O.A. The history of astronomical research in Ryazan in the period from the beginning of XX century to the present was investigated. Historical and scientific facts about the development of the first astronomical observatories in Ryazan, the construction of which dates from the beginning of XX century, were collected and systematized on the materials of the archives. The fates of Ryazan scientists-astronomers and teachers of cosmography, that made a significant contribution to the creation of Ryazan astronomical school, were studied. First the names of the first devotees of astronomy in Ryazan – Agathon Chervinskiy and Nikolay Vykhodtsevsky – were discovered with the help of the State Archive of the Ryazan region. First the scheme of the second Ryazan observatory was detected, and it is a significant event in the history of Ryazan. Also the telescope of French company «Bardou» of the late XIX-early XX centuries was discovered in the one of Ryazan school and its possible way from Paris to the provincial city of Ryazan was traced.
