Mishchuk The results of research in Group for Social and Economic Research in the Laboratory for Mathematical Modeling of the Dynamics of Regional Systems in the Institute for Complex Analysis of Regional Problems FEB RAS for the period 2009–2014 are presented in the paper. Conducting of integrated research of the regional population and economy with using of multidisciplinary approach is a feature of the Group. Its employees work in several areas: regional demographics, basic, social and economic geography, foreign economic relations, social safety, regional economy and bioclimatology. Group’s demographic research is presented by detailed analysis of the historical preconditions and current status of the natural and mechanical changes of population. The features of settlement and the formation of the settlement structure of the population in the territory of the Jewish Autonomous Region are shown in the paper. The issues related to cross-border provision of southern regions in the Russian Far East were studied in detail. Based on an integrated socio-geographical approach the territorial differentiation of health indicators in the socio-economic conditions on the meso- and microlevels of the Russian Far East is considered by laboratory employees. The assessment of the economic damage by mortality in the Far eastern regions was carried out. Analysis of the dependence of mortality of the population in the south of the Russian Far East on the temperature was made. The technique of assessment of environmental and climatic characteristics of the territory, adapted to the conditions of the monsoon climate in the south of the Russian Far East, was developed by experts.
