History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back ANALYSIS AND SOLUTION OF FUNDAMENTAL AND APPLIED PROBLEMS FOR POPULATION BIOLOGY BY MATHEMATICAL MODELING METHODS E.Ya. Frisman The article analyzes the role of mathematical modeling for formation and development of the population biology’s basic concepts: the natural selection theory, the synthetic theory of evolution, the theory of ecological regulation of population dynamics. Some approaches to the integration of population genetic and ecological ideas are discussed. The results of mathematical analysis and simulation of population dynamics based on the using recurrence equations. Many of the presented results are obtained by researchers of the Far East school of theoretical population biology through the article’s author high mediation. The paper presents the results explaining evolutionary patterns of occurrence of complex oscillatory and chaotic regimes of population dynamics, age and genetic structure of ecologically limited populations. It is provided biologically meaningful conclusions of population dynamics simulation for important game species of Russian Far East. Qualitative and quantitative dependencies of the species population dynamics on the state of the wildlife habitats are shown. It is presented the examples of the selective and the destabilizing role of the hunting infl uence on some species.
