Marchenko Article is devoted to studying the signifi cant kind of national art crafts, for adyghe, – a mat. It is defi ned that !mestorazvity» was a fundamental factor of the origin of the trade. The main functions, ornaments and forms of a mat are considered. The new status of a mat in modern society – the status of «ethnobrand» is revealed.
