History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back CONSTRUCTION OF CONTROL ROAD NETWORK IN DAGESTAN DURING 1920’S-1930’S A.N. Alilov The article is dedicated to the problems of construction of road control network and the role of the roads in economic growth and improvement in life level and conditions of Dagestan's population in the 1930-s. Based on the archive sources and materials of periodicals, the country's and Dagestan's road construction authorities' work in terms of road construction in Dagestan is viewed. The author researches the automobile transportation use in Dagestan, which spread signifi cantly during the given period of time. It is shown that the roads became the main factor of economic growth and development in the region and the raise in the cultural life level of Dagestan's population. The creation of the authorities that conform with the administrative command system is described. At the same time it is noted that the quality of the roads in places where there prevailed earth roads didn't satisfy the needs in traffi c due to the growth in automobilization, which in turn was a barrier to solving many social and economic problems.
