Shevchenko A history of the short-term tsunami forecasting, both abroad and in Russia, is briefl y represented. The present state of tsunami warning service is described. A brief description and analysis of short-term forecasting methods since 90s is done. Particular attention is paid to hydrophysical methods. Each of the described methods is evaluated for compliance with the defi nition of short-term tsunami forecast.
