GEODYNAMICAL GPS/GLONASS INVESTIGATIONS IN THE SAKHALIN-KURIL REGION |

The traditional classical geodetic methods were used for the study of recent movements of the earth's surface in the Sakhalin-Kuril region until the mid 90-ies years of the last century. The methods of satellite geodesy wеre used for the fi rst time in the North Sakhalin in 1995–1997 for the study the large-scale coseismic displacements of the earth’s surface as a result of the devastating Neftegorsk earthquake 27.05.1995 Мw =7,0. Their widespread use in later years and the development of GPS/GLONASS observational network in the Sakhalin and Kuril
Islands gave a wealth of information for the study of recent geodynamics of the region. The results of geodynamic investigations received by researchers of IMG&G FEB RAS in the last years are presented in the paper.
