Shevelev At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, some names of outstanding Leningrad mathematicians disappeared mysteriously of the Soviet mathematical life. They were: corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, N.S. Koshlyakov and V.S. Ignatovsky, a head of the Mathematical Institute of the Leningrad Branch of the USSR A.M. Zhuravsky, a dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of Leningrad University N.V. Rose, a professor of math faculty of Leningrad University B.I. Izvekov and several lecturers in mathematics at Leningrad University: N.I. Postoeva, V.I. Milinsky, B.D. Verzhbitsky, N.A. Artemyev.
