History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back MIEA FOUNDATION AND DEVELOPMENT HISTORY – THE HISTORY OF RUSSIAN INSTRUMENT ENGINEERING INDUSTRY EVOLUTION A.G. Kuznetsov, S.G. Kan, B.I. Portnov, G.I. Chesnokov, O.B. Kerber In October 2016 the Moscow Institute of Electromechanics and Automatics (MIEA) will celebrate 65 years from the date of its foundation. MIEA is the oldest and leading enterprise of Russian avionics industry. The intellectual basis of the Institute, established those far years at the territory of production plant, was provided by the team of engineers and scientists, emerged even before the Great Patriotic War, which developed the majority of avionics systems for Russian air fleet. The aircraft navigation and control systems developed by the Institute were used earlier and are in operation onboard a broad range of both civil and Air-Space Forces aircraft now. The article describes the history of MIEA foundation and development which actually is the history of our avionics industry evolution. The main results of the Institute activities are provided.
