History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back ON MIEA DEVELOPMENTS IN INERTIAL NAVIGATION A.V. Fomichev, B.I. Portnov, E.A. Izmailov The article addresses the key achievements of MIEA in the inertial navigation systems area since the 1960s. Comparison of basic performance specifi cations and technological solutions of the most signifi cant products allows to reveal the milestones of the systems evolution. And the model range of aircraft equipped with MIEA systems covers an impressive segment of the air fl eet. Modern БИМС-Т, БИНС-СП-1 and БИНС-СП-2 strapdown systems are described in detail. The systems key features, design, operational conditions and software structure are considered here. Results of the numerous flight tests, making it possible to confi rm the declared accuracy data are given. Comparison with the products of leading global manufacturers allows drawing a conclusion that MIEA strapdown INS technology is in parity with the foreign counterpart’s developments.
