THE DOUBLE AND COMBINED FRENCH HORN OF SYSTEMS OF FA AND SI-BEMOL IN PRACTICE OF MODERN PERFORMANCE. SOUND EXTRACTION: ATTACK, STATIONARY PART
L.D. Belenov

Article is devoted to practice of application of the double and combined french horn of systems of Fa and Si-bemol in modern horn performance. Comparative characteristics of methods of sound extraction on french horns in Fa and Si-bemol’s systems at various dynamic shades and strokes are given. At playing a french horn the attack of a sound is one of receptions, diffi cult for development. She occupies a part of activity, insignificant, almost imperceptible for hearing. For detection of comparative characteristics of the attacks in both systems three series of the amplitude bending-around sounds have been recorded in phototape recordings (movie). Proceeding from results of pilot study, it is possible to draw a conclusion that on a french horn building the SI fl at it is more convenient and easier to use the active, intensive attack in piano and pianissimo as smaller time and smaller expense of energy for reduction in fluctuation the shortened air column of the tool is required. At a fort the performer needs big fi tness for mastering softer kinds of the attack allowing to keep and in this system the melodiousness of a sound peculiar to Fa’s french horn. Stationary part of a sound takes the main time of sounding. On this site oscillatory process becomes more constant, steady and operated both on a timbre, and on intonation. From the oscillograms received as a result of a research it becomes obvious that at identical expense of energy a system the SI fl at gives a little bigger dynamic sound effect, than Fa’s system, at the same time tires the player less. Besides, in this system it is easier for performer to use all range of dynamic shades from pianissimo to fortissimo.
Keywords: the double and combined french horns; Fa and Si-bemol’s systems; attack; a stationary part of a sound; sound extraction.
