Skroznikova The article describes the history of the world famous mandolin dynasty Calace, which flourished in the era of romanticism. Living in Naples - the heart of the production of musical instruments, the famous luthier family was developing and making for several generations the best instruments of its epoch, which to this day are still precious. The main focus of the article is made on the activities of Raffaele Calace, most outstanding and multifaceted in his work family member. Being a mandolin virtuoso, composer, he was involved in the design and creation of high-quality instruments, as well, and was the founder of the Italian Mandolin school. In addition, Raffaele Calace was actively engaged in educational activities, thereby mandolin acquired the status of a concert instrument.
