Soldatova, L.Yu. Pokrovskaya In the article the analysis of the composition and content of the documents RGANTD branch. More than half of all scientifi c and technical documentation in the permanent storage in the state archives are concentrated in this archive. The importance of scientifi c and technical documentation as a historical source for research on the history of science and technology of Russia of second half XIX–the beginning of XXI century, marked the chronological and territorial scope of the documents. Attention is drawn to the inadequate use of this type of documents and the importance of an integrated approach to the study of archival documents in historical studies, including the history of science and technology.
