BIG DATA IN ASTRONOMY: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE |

Astronomy has been one of the fi rst areas of science to embrace and learn from big data, and today issues related to the organization, maintenance and dissemination of the volume data collections are especially topical. The main goal of this paper is to give an historical sketch and an overview of the main modern trends in construction and functioning of large data sources in astronomy. In particular we present here a list of major collections of astronomical data, both existing and expected to appear in the near future.
