Shapiro Some scientifi c achievements obtained with author’s participation at the Laser Physics and Photonics Laboratories during 1977–2016 in the fi eld of nonlinear spectroscopy, laser physics, photonics, and plasmonics are described popularly. The ideas of pure mathematics, computational methods, experimental techniques, and theoretical physics are shown to intertwine whimsically and interact in modern research.
