History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back METHODS AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR PROCESSING AND DISPLAY OF DATA IN VIRTUAL REALITY SYSTEMS AND NUMERICAL SIMULATION B.S. Dolgovesov, M.M. Obertyshev The article describes virtual reality systems developed at the Institute of Automation and Electrometry SB RAS over the years, which were used in simulator trainers at the Gagarin’s Cosmonauts Training Centre to train cosmonauts for the «Mir» and ISS space programs. Promising ways of using the virtual reality technology for space trainers are outlined. New technology solutions for the educational process and material presentation with the use of the integrated virtual reality, technology and the concept of a virtual educational platform on the cloud architecture are presented. Efficient hardware and software solutions for real-time processing and rendering of distributed multimedia are proposed for problems of genome analysis and numerical simulation of seismic processes and tsunami propagation.
