History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION INTO IONOSPHERE PROCESSES OVER KAMCHATKA VIA RADIO TOMOGRAPHY, GPS RADIO INTERPHEROMETRY AND VERTICAL RADIO SOUNDING METHODS V.V. Bogdanov, I.V. Zhivetiev The paper presents preliminary results of simultaneous observations of the ionosphere state by radio tomography, GPS radio interferometry and vertical radio sounding methods. The observations were carried out in moderate and disturbed geomagnetic conditions in all seasons. Geomagnetic disturbance index was determined by magnetic measurements at the «Paratunka» station (Kamchatka Peninsula). Based on the data obtained from the network of tomographic station installed in meridional direction of Kamchatka Peninsula, as well as on the data of the Kamchatka regional GPS station network for the periods under consideration, we detected moving ionospheric disturbances with < 1,5 TECU amplitude, and with periods on the order of 60 min; they moved mainly in the equatorial direction at a speed of several tens of meters up to ~1 500 m/s. Application of vertical radio sounding methods allowed to determine charged particle corpuscular precipitation moments and, approximately for this time, electron distribution meridian section corresponding to corpuscular layers was determined via tomography methods.
