History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back ON HISTORY OF N.S. KURNAKOV INSTITUTE OF GENERAL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY Yu.A. Zolotov There is the common opinion that N.S. Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences was established in 1934 by merging of Laboratory of General Chtmistry, Institute of Physico-Chemical Analysis and Institute for Study of Platinum and Other Noble Metals. In this article, it is shown that history of the Institute was more complicate. Physico-chemical division of Laboratory of High Pressure organized by Academician V.N. Ipat’ev as well as Laboratory of Silicium Chemistry headed by I.V. Grebentzshikov (slightly later) were also introduced into the Institute. Explanation of the «bed memory» is given. Keywords: N.S.
