HIGH-PERFORMANCE COMPUTING ARCHITECTURE ARCHITECTURE LABORATORY: QUANTUM BITS ON SEMICONDUCTOR QUANTUM DOTS WITH OPTICAL CONTROL |

The article contains a small essay describing the history of the origin of the idea of using semiconductor quantum dots and nanostructures based on them, controlled by a laser or microcavity, in quantum computer science. The results obtained during the last 15 years by the staff of the FTIAN and, in particular, by the author of this article are presented. Particular attention is paid to hybrid solid-state electron-photon systems consisting of a double quantum dot and an optical microcavity, which can exchange energy among themselves. It is these objects that satisfy the main requirement to create a practically useful quantum computing device - scalability.
