History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back ORGANIZATION OF THE INSTITUTE OF MILITARY ACCEPTANCE AT THE FACTORIES OF THE MINING DEPARTMENT IN 60–70-s OF THE XIX CENTURY I.A. Sergievskiy This publication is devoted to an improvement of the staffi ng structure and empowerment of the representatives of the artillery Department of the Russian Empire, carrying out their activities in the Ural, and Olonetsk and Lugansk mining plants, during the military reform of the Emperor Alexander II. A brief retrospective of the creation and establishment of a permanent and independent domestic unit of the artillery inspectors since the beginning of the XIX century is described. Parallels in the development of the management bodies in the mining industry and structures responsible for military acceptance are tracked. The issues of cooperation between artillery acceptors and mining engineers are discussed. Rights and responsibilities of key offi cials who handled the acceptance of weapons are detailed. The peculiarities of the technical organization of quality assurance, education and training, conditions of functioning of the Institute of military acceptance at the factories of the mining Department are disclosed. Changes in the system of quality control and acceptance of military products in the domestic production in the second half of the XIX century are schematically shown. Relevant conclusions about results of activity and reforming of the domestic acceptance of the military institution in 1860-1870-s are justified. The publication was prepared on the basis of published sources (primarily on the Complete collection of laws of the Russian Empire), and previously unpublished documentary material from the Russian state military-historical archive (Moscow), the archive of Military-historical Museum of artillery, engineer and signal corps (Saint-Petersburg) and the State archive of Sverdlovsk region (Ekaterinburg).
