Petrovskiy On the basis of various sources, the authors show the scientific contribution of Russian scientists of the XVIII–first half of the XIX centuries to the natural-science research of Russian Lapland. In the article, most attention is paid to poorly studied aspects of the first geological knowledge of the Kola region. The analysis is made of the scientific significance of the results of the first geological studies of Russian Lapland carried out by academicians I.I. Lepyokhin and N.Ya.
