Petrovskiy On the basis of various sources, the authors show the scientific contribution of Russian scientists in the first half of the XIX century to the natural-science research of Russian Lapland. In the article, most attention is paid to poorly studied aspects of the first geological knowledge of the Kola region. Forgotten in the history of science report V.N. Bötlingk about his travel through Russian Lapland are entered into circulation. An analysis is made of the scientific significance of the results of the Second Geological Expedition to Russian Lapland, committed by V.N. Bötlingk.
