History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back RESEARCHES OF THE INSTITUTE OF NUCLEAR PHYSICS OF THE SB RAS AS A BASIS FOR PARTICIPATION IN MODERN MEGAPROJECTS N.A. Kupershtokh The article recreated the history of the formation of the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics of Siberian Branch Russian Academy of Sciences. It is shown that the principle of forming institutions of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences under original scientific ideas brilliantly embodied in the activities of the INP.The founder of the institute academician G.I. Budker in 1957–1977 set the tasks that brought the institute to the leaders of world science, formed a team of like-minded people, created a powerful system of experimental facilities. Pupil and follower of G.A. Budker academician A.N. Skrinsky, who led the institute in 1977–2015, significantly strengthened the INP potential and ensured its inclusion in the largest international projects of our time. The third director of the institute is academician P.V. Logachev since 2015 defines the strategy and the main directions of work of the team at the present stage. Under his leadership, the INP formed the flagship project "SKIF" in the "Academgorodok 2.0" project system.
