History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back THE STUDIES ON MEADOW ECOSYSTEMS OF THE CENTRAL CAUCASUS IN TEMBOTOV INSTITUTE OF ECOLOGY OF MOUNTAIN TERRITORIES, RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES: THE RESULTS OF INVESTIGATIONS FOR 15 YEARS AND FUTURE TRENDS V.A. Chadaeva, N.L. Tsepkova The work describes basic periods and trends of the studies on meadow ecosystems of the Central Caucasus in Tembotov Institute of Ecology of Mountain Territories, Russian Academy of Sciences. The initial stage of the studies involved assessing biotopic preference of invertebrates to different types of phytocenoses. The Laboratory for geobotanical research was formed in 2007, which contributed to significant development of the studies. During the period of 2007–2012 the inventory of diverse types of phytocenoses within mountain territories received primary emphasis. The ecological-floristic classification of synanthropic vegetation of especially protected nature territories and the studies on lichen flora and liverwort flora of the northern macroslope in the Central Caucasus were also performed. During the period of 2013–2019 the tasks of the Laboratory were as follows: monitoring studies on meadow ecosystems by means of remote sensing data, assessment of long-term anthropogenic and climatogenic dynamics of meadows, comprehensive studies on invasive flora of Kabardino-Balkaria and population studies on rare plant species.
