History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back HEART FOR «ZAKHAR IVANOVICH»: FROM THE HISTORY OF ENGINE PRODUCTION AT THE URAL AUTOMOBILE PLANT DURING THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR S.A. P’yankov The article is devoted to the history of engine production at the Ural automobile plant named after I.V. Stalin (UralZIS), created as a result of the evacuation of the Moscow automobile plant named after I.V. Stalin. The article describes the formation and development of automobile engine production in the Urals during the great Patriotic war. The process of upgrading the engine of the ZIS-5 truck is considered, the technical characteristics of engines manufactured at UralZIS are presented. The conclusion states that the engineers and workers of the new plant managed to organize the production of high-tech products in the shortest possible time. Design solutions and new technologies for manufacturing engine parts, laid down and tested during the great Patriotic war, became the basis for the post-war production of automotive equipment.
