Udalova, A.V. Yakhin The results of historical and technical analysis of the development of friction welding technology in our country in the period 1930–1990s are presented. The contribution of individual scientists and research teams to the development of scientific and technical solutions to improve this method and expand its fields of application is analyzed. The leading role of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Electric Welding Equipment in the organization and conduct of research and development in the field of welding technology is shown. Promising areas for the development of friction welding technology for the coming years have been identified taking into account the relevance of import substitution. Keywords: V.I.
